Autumn Term
This term will be an exciting time for the children. They will be learning all their new routines about school life and developing their skills through play. We will go for Autumn walks as we begin to discover the changes in seasons moving towards December. During the Christmas season the children will be working very hard to perform a Christmas Nativity which we invite parents and carers to visit. We will be learning about our families and reading the book ‘My Map Book’ by Sara Fanelli for our first topic 'Super Me!'. Following this, we will delve into the topic 'Down in the Woods' where we will read ‘The Gruffalo’, 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and 'Owl Babies'. This topic involves a special visit from some owls and the launch of our woodland learning.
Spring Term
This term we will be exploring the topic of transport through 'All Aboard!' As part of this topic we will be going on a train ride, have a visit from the fire service and get to see lots of different vehicles.
Another of our topics called 'Ponds and Swamps' is going to include the stories of 'The Bog Baby' and 'The Teeny-Weeny Tadpole'. More fun and lots of learning opportunities indeed! It sounds like a fun term ahead!
For more information on what we will be learning about and reading this term (and for the Autumn and Summer term) head to the 'Curriculum' tab at the top of our website. https://www.edwardbryantschool.co.uk/Curriculum/Our-Edward-Bryant-School-Curriculum/
Summer Term
More fun is in store for the Summer Term!
One of our main topics is going to be 'It's a Bug's Life!' where we will be reading ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell’. The children will also be able to enjoy going on Minibeast hunts and learning all about these wonderful creatures. Our art unit will involve the famous snail piece by Henri Matisse and the children will be able to have a go at doing their own version of this.
We will be exploring the topic of 'Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots!'. This includes an exciting trip to Staunton Country Park. In addition to this we will be having a visit from Zoolab who will show us lots of exciting minibeasts.
Sports Day will be happening during part 2 of the Summer Term and we will be busy practising for this!
